Dear Parents and Caregivers
Feast of Corpus Christi
This Sunday, we celebrate the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. This feast day reminds us of the Last Supper when Jesus shared a meal with his disciples to celebrate the Passover festival. At this meal, Jesus told his friends that he was giving up his life for them and that he wanted them to remember him every time they gathered to eat a community meal.
This is what we do when we gather at mass on a Sunday. We gather to share stories about Jesus and pray together. The Eucharist is important because we remember Jesus’ final meal with his friends and how he sacrificed his life for us. Our participation at Eucharist joins us closer to Jesus and God.
Congratulations
On Saturday evening, 7 students from SJMS completed their Sacraments of Initiation when they celebrated Eucharist for the first time. We pray that their faith journey continues to grow as they participate in the Eucharist as part of the Parish Community.
Congratulations to Siena, Orlando, Brody, Sienna, Thomas, Leon and Amalia.
Refugee Week 2019
This week is Refugee week and this year the Refugee Council of Australia has chosen #WithRefugees as a continuing theme.
The week calls us to unite and work towards positive action, encouraging us all to welcome refugees to our shores and acknowledge the different gifts and talents refugees bring to their new home.
