Creator Spirit, strengthen each child with your gifts of the Holy Spirit, to love and serve as a disciple of Christ. Grant that they may grow into the fullness of the stature of Christ. Fill them with the joy of your presence. Increase in them the fruit of your Spirit: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of love, patience and gentleness, the spirit of wonder and true holiness.

Reports

Next Friday you’ll receive your child’s mid-year report. The report provides information about and a summary of your child’s attainment to date. These formal reports, in conjunction with parent teacher conferences, play a key role in developing effective school/family partnerships which support student learning. It is one of a number of formal ways that the school communicates your child’s attainment and achievement, commitment to learning and strategies to enhance their learning. Contact via your child’s diary, the exchanging of information in writing or through conversations with the class teacher is no less important. It is through these less formal channels of communication that we establish trust and are able to engage in continuous, open and frank dialogue that keeps your child’s learning at the centre of our relationship. Often when I’m talking with students I use the phrase “It’s an input-output model” - the more you put in the more you take from it. Learning isn’t always defined by ability more often than not it’s defined by commitment. For some this will mean seeking and attaining A’s, while for others it may mean an almighty effort is placed into the necessary work to attain a C. It doesn’t diminish each individual’s achievement. At St Joseph’s Memorial School all we seek is for every child to fulfil their true potential and use all of their God given talents and abilities to the fullest. Learning Conversations are available to discuss these reports in Week 1, Term 3. Click here and enter the code z6wgu to book your learning conversation/s.

Condolences

On Monday we received some sad news about a member of our school community. Sammie’s (Year 3) father, Damon, passed away suddenly. The school extends its heartfelt sympathy to Sammie and his family; Jodie, Jess and Harry. We give thanks to God for the privilege of sharing a part of his life. We pray for Sammie and his extended family.

God Bless
