Feast of Corpus Christi

This Sunday, we celebrate the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. This feast day reminds us of the Last Supper when Jesus shared a meal with his disciples to celebrate the Passover festival.  At this meal, Jesus told his friends that he was giving up his life for them and that he wanted them to remember him every time they gathered to eat a community meal.

This is what we do when we gather at mass on a Sunday. We gather to share stories about Jesus and pray together. The Eucharist is important because we remember Jesus’ final meal with his friends and how he sacrificed his life for us. Our participation at Eucharist joins us closer to Jesus and God.

Chocolate Drive

As outlined in the last newsletter the P&F are again running a Chocolate drive to raise funds for the purchase of classroom and playground resources at both campuses. Forms will go home for the 2019 chocolate drive this week. Order your boxes, donate or opt out on the skoolbag app by Wednesday 26 June 2019. For those familiar with the Cadbury Fundraiser  you will note that for 2019 there have been price and product changes, these changes are outlined on the form. In the past this has been a well supported fundraiser for the school so please consider supporting us again by selling the chocolates within your family networks or family workplaces or community groups.

SJMS Sport News

In our busiest term for sporting teams at SJMS, I would like to congratulate all our athletes participating in our after school sports program. Currently we have over 100 students representing SJMS in Netball, Basketball, Football and Soccer. It has been wonderful to see the participation and hard work from our amazing student athletes.

We would also like to congratulate Naite Slade for his outstanding efforts in the SAPSASA athletics and cross country competitions. Naite has won his way to compete in both state and national carnivals for his efforts over 800m, 1500m and cross country. A tremendous effort. Congratulations Naite!
