A message from the Principal

Dear SJMS Community

Today we had our Ash Wednesday Mass (William St) and Liturgy (Bridge St). Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. We know that Lent is a very special time of the year where we as Christians prepare for Easter by reflecting on our lives. It is a time where we focus more fully on making good and better choices. On Wednesday our foreheads are marked with ashes to humble our hearts and remind us that life passes away on Earth. Ashes are a symbol of penance made sacramental by the blessing of the Church, and they help us develop a spirit of humility and sacrifice. The ashes are made from the blessed palms used in the Palm Sunday celebration of the previous year. The ashes are then christened with Holy Water.

A message from the Assistant Principal RIM

Dear SJMS Community

Today we celebrate Ash Wednesday. This day signifies, for Christians around the world, the beginning of the Season of Lent. A time when we prepare ourselves for Easter by reflecting on how we can be a better person by reflecting on life's choices and possible life directions.

A message from the Parents and Friends Committee

Dear SJMS Community

We are already half way through the term and Autumn is upon us! We are pleased to have finalised the Class Reps for the year. We thank everyone who kindly volunteered for the role, it’s not too late if you would still like to help. I’m sure your Reps will be in contact soon to organise a catch up.

A message from the Preschool

The Preschool Term One inquiry is: 'God made me special'.

Through discussions, shared reading and singing, the children have discovered that God has given us so many people and things to be thankful for.

The children also mentioned their families were very special to them and make them feel happy. We extended on their interest by encouraging the children to be 'artists' and draw the most special and most beautiful picture of their family.

We look forward to displaying them for everyone to see!
